Marjory Barlow (1915 – 2006)
She trained with Alexander 1933–1936 and taught at Ashley Place for several years after her initial training. She and her husband, Dr Bill Barlow, established a teacher-training course in 1950, which operated until 1982. She delivered the annual F.M. Alexander Memorial Lecture in 1965, and for a time served as chairperson of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique. She was unstinting in her efforts to gently, yet firmly, maintain the highest standards in upholding the legacy of Alexander’s work. After her husband’s death in 1991, she continued with her private teaching practice until her death in 2006.
