Ted McNamara
Was born and raised in the rich traditions of rural Ireland. He was formally educated at De La Salle College, Waterford, and in Arts and Education at the National Universities of Ireland (Dublin) and Australia (Canberra).
From 1981 to 2005, he studied the Alexander Technique, primarily under the direction and guidance of Mr Patrick Macdonald, Miss Margaret Goldie, Mr Walter Carrington, and Wilfred and Marjory Barlow, each of whom studied and trained directly under F.M. Alexander.
He was an assistant teacher to Dr Barlow at The Alexander Institute from 1986 to 1991, and has worked at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (Junior and Senior Schools) from 1995 to 2014.
In the last two decades, while maintaining a private teaching practice, he has taught in Alexander teacher-training schools in London and travelled internationally to teach and work through the medium of the Alexander Technique, as well as dance, Tai Chi, Ba-Kua and movement.
He has several years experience working in special needs education and maintains an interest in this field, and in environmental consultancy.
